classM supports Endeavour Mining in the creation of its ‘economic development’ pillar
As a first step, classM studied which businesses could be supported, structured and developed in the environment of the group’s mining sites. In addition to supporting small-scale entrepreneurship, the aim is to develop an ecosystem that creates local wealth and jobs. In the medium term, the businesses supported will be profitable and the dividends generated reinvested in other business projects.
To manage these investments, classM and Endeavour Mining have set up the ECODEV fund.
The first investment was made in a shea nut factory in Mali: Mali Shi. Shea nuts are harvested in a region close to the Endeavour mine. As a result, the people living around the mine site are benefiting fully from the investment.
