Innovative strategy for managing social impacts

The base-life of a sugar plantation (6,000 hectares, 400 workers), created in the 1970s, has become a village (8,000 inhabitants) entirely dependent on the industrial operator. This situation has given rise to recurring social problems. classM has developed a strategy aimed at separating the village from the sugar factory:

management and eventual handover of the housing
creating new wealth-generating activities unrelated to the sugar industry,
organising transport for workers not living on site.
This strategy has been submitted to the national authorities, with a view to supporting the request for recognition of an administrative entity (creation of a commune) managed by the state.
